One of the most common clutter mistakes we make in our kitchen is using a countertop to horde all forms of paper.
It’s very easy to drop your bills, coupons, weekly receipts or letters to form a continuously growing pile on your kitchen countertops. This contributes to a kitchen looking cluttered, unorganized and small. Not to mention how easy it is to misplace something!
Let’s walk through how to reduce this paper pile and, most importantly, keep it from coming back.
1: Go through and categorize all items- bills, receipts, coupons, unopened mail, junk, and so on. Toss the junk mail and expired coupons and paper clip the rest in their respective category.
2: Decide how you’ll store these items. Receipts are best in an envelope out of sight, whereas upcoming bills need to be front and center to reduce risk of being late.
Tip: Invest in a good wall organizer! Your information will easily be in reach but will also be off the counter and look much more organized.
3: Keep it up! Commit to the declutter lifestyle and make it a habit to maintain a routine.
Bonus: Invest in a phone app (or several)- set reminders, go paperless with bills, scan receipts, etc. Technology is at our fingertips and we should embrace it.
